Five things that explain almost every problem
Nearly every recurring complaint about this device traces back to one of these. No other guide states them together, so they go first.

It has eleven footswitches, and they all turn.
Not eight. BANK DOWN and TEMPO sit at the right-hand ends of the two main rows and BANK UP is raised beside the screen, so the count reads as eight in almost every photograph. Every one of the eleven is a rotary encoder.

The CPU meter is not what’s stopping you.
The unit refuses a second reverb while the meter shows a third, so people start deleting things. That doesn’t help, because the real limit is per-path rather than global. Move the block to the other path instead.

“0 dB” and “just below clipping” are the same advice.
The two answers everyone argues about are a default and a check, in that order — not rival opinions. Doing them in sequence takes two minutes and settles the most-asked question about this device.

Scenes aren’t presets, and that’s why your set has gaps.
Presets reload the whole rig. Scenes recall settings inside a rig that’s already loaded, so they switch instantly. Building one song as three presets is the commonest cause of audible dropouts mid-song.

INST LEVEL doesn’t affect your capture. IN LEVEL does.
One sets how hard the device being captured is driven; the other is the return signal the capture is actually made from. Confusing them is why most first captures come out at the wrong level or feel wrong to play.

This guide was assembled from Neural DSP’s manual, FAQ, product documentation and CorOS release notes, plus their community forum and the community wiki. The panel diagrams were read off the unit itself. Facts are labelled by where they came from.
That labelling matters more here than usual. Some of the most useful things about this device — the per-path DSP limits, the capture level conventions — are documented only by owners comparing notes, not by Neural. We publish them because they’re the only account that fits the behaviour, and we mark them as community-sourced rather than dressing them up as specifications.
