How many blocks does the HX Stomp have?
Eight, since firmware 3.0. It was six before that, and a lot of the advice online still says six. Check your firmware before you plan a preset around the smaller number.

How do I save a preset on the HX Stomp?
Hold HOME and press ACTION. There is no save button, and the word SAVE printed under the Upper Knob is not one.
How do I get to Global Settings on the HX Stomp?
Press both PAGE buttons at once. It is not printed on the unit anywhere.
How many snapshots does the HX Stomp have?
Three. A full Helix has eight, which is where the confusion comes from.
Why did my HX Stomp footswitches stop working?
It is in the wrong footswitch mode. Press ◀ PAGE or PAGE ▶ while in Play view to cycle through Stomp, Scroll, Preset and Snapshot.
Can I power an HX Stomp from my pedalboard supply?
Usually not. It needs 9 V at 3 amps, and most isolated supplies cannot deliver that from one output. Line 6 recommend using the supplied adapter. Check the current rating, not just the voltage.
How do I connect an HX Stomp to a mixing desk?
Use quarter-inch TRS to male XLR cables from the outputs. They are balanced, so you do not need a DI box.
Can I get more than three footswitches on an HX Stomp?
Yes, two ways. A Y-cable into the EXP 1/2 jack adds two external switches, and a MIDI controller adds as many as you want.
Can I play along with music through my HX Stomp?
Yes. Set the Return jacks to Aux In in Global Settings > Ins/Outs, set the preset's Input block to Main L/R, and plug your phone or mixer into the returns.
What do the FX, 4CM, DIR and BAS presets mean?
They are the four rigs Line 6 expect you to build: effects only, four-cable method, direct to a powered speaker, and bass. Start from the prefix that matches your setup.
What amp is Brit 2203 on the HX Stomp?
A Marshall JCM-800, 100 watt, model 2203. The HX Stomp has the same 440 models as a full Helix, and Line 6 publish what each one is based on.
Why won't my HX Stomp preset fit in eight blocks?
Stereo blocks cost about twice what mono ones do, and an Amp+Cab is one block where a separate Amp and Cab are two. Going mono and using Amp+Cab is usually enough.
