Every jack on the HX Stomp, on a diagram you can click — what it's for, and the thing about it that costs people an evening.

Guitar, bass or synth. For a mono instrument, use L/MONO.

The input has a programmable impedance circuit, the same as a full Helix. If a guitar sounds harsh, that is the control to look for, in Global Settings.

Worth knowing

Facts about the audio path

The I/O is on three different faces

Send and Return are on the left cheek, MIDI and headphones on the right, and everything else on the back. Plan your pedalboard layout around that — cables come out of all three sides.

9 V at 3 A is not a normal pedal supply

Most isolated supplies cannot deliver three amps from one output. Line 6 recommend the supplied adapter only. This catches more new owners than anything else about the device.

TRS out to XLR gets you to the desk with no DI

The quarter-inch outputs are balanced on TRS. A pair of TRS-to-male-XLR cables runs straight into a mixing console.

The returns can become a permanent aux input

Global Settings > Ins/Outs switches the Return jacks from effects-loop duty to an unprocessed stereo aux in. Set the preset's Input block to Main L/R and you can play along with anything.

The factory presets tell you what rig they are for

Names beginning FX are effects-only, 4CM are four-cable-method, DIR go direct to a powered speaker, and BAS are the bass rigs. Start from the right prefix and half the setup is done.
