Eight, the same as the HX Stomp. The XL adds footswitches and a snapshot, not processing.
What's the difference between HX Stomp and HX Stomp XL?
Six more footswitches, a dedicated MODE and TAP switch, one more snapshot, and every jack on the rear instead of spread over three faces. Same engine, same eight blocks.

Usually not. It needs 9 V at 3 amps from a single output and Line 6 recommend the supplied adapter.

Yes. Set the Return jacks to Aux In in Global Settings and set the preset's Input block to Main L/R.

Why won't my preset fit in eight blocks?
Stereo blocks cost about twice what mono ones do, and an Amp+Cab is one block where a separate Amp and Cab are two.
