It is a whole guitar rig in one box — amps, speakers, microphones and effects, all modelled. Whether it sounds right depends almost entirely on what you plug it into.
The short version
A pedal-sized HX processor with the full Line 6 model library, three footswitches and eight block positions. It is designed to be dropped into a board you already have — as an effects unit, as the amp at the end of a chain, or wrapped around an amp's loop in a four-cable rig.
Is this the right guide?
If yours has eight footswitches it is an HX Stomp XL. If it has no amp models at all it is an HX Effects. Both are different boxes with different manuals.
The thing everyone gets wrong first
On a HX Stomp, the question we see most is footswitches that seem to have stopped working.
You are in the wrong footswitch mode. The PAGE buttons cycle Stomp, Scroll, Preset and Snapshot.
